Slut Walk Or Nah

Let’s talk about this Slut Walk I've been seeing up and down my timeline.
I completely understand and support the cause, but why must we call it a “Slut Walk?” I get it, the name came from retaliations after a Toronto officer suggested that to remain safe, "Women should avoid dressing like sluts.”
But that name takes away from the cause. Can you imagine The Million Man March being called The Million N*gger March? It’s pretty degrading.
But lets stir the pot some, If you participate are you labeling yourself as a slut?
What is a slut anyway? Is that term defined by ones outfit, or is it defined by ones actions? Is a girl a slut because she’s on birth control or because she keeps a box of condoms? I know plenty of girls who wear short shorts, tight tops, and high heels but does that give someone the right to label them as a slut and is it an open invitation for someone to sexually assault them? I don’t think so.
Imagine a girl poking a hole in a condom so she could get pregnant. I mean you're a guy right? Guys are the only ones who produce the other half of what is needed to make a baby and she wanted that baby. Now she wants child support and she sees absolutely nothing wrong with what she did. Neither does the judge and she’s granted that child support. Oh, It’s justifiable because you're a guy. Your reproductive system tempted her. If you didn’t want her to get pregnant, you shouldn’t have been a guy.
*Take a moment to reflect*
Sound stupid right? So is trying to justify rape.
I am absolutely disgusted when I hear people say things like “she was asking for it because she had on a tempting outfit.” How deranged and stupid can you be to even form that thought?
I find it amusing when men call girls who wear provocative clothes sluts but turn around and like every picture of these half naked girls on Instagram then make them their #WCW.
Oppp did I step on someones toes there? Good!
Trying to justify rape or any type of sexual abuse is wrong. Especially when you're basing it off of an outfit. My advice would be to learn to have self control and get out of that chauvinistic mindset.
Now don’t get it twisted, I am not condoning ladies to walk down the street half naked. I do believe we need to value our bodies and not share every nook and cranny with the world. We are queens after all and need to demand respect. With that being said, if we do decide to get cute and show skin it should be clear that it’s not an open invitation for sexual abuse against women. PERIOD!
#TalkBackToTula How do you guys feel about this Slut Walk and this topic in general?
